Article Body

The iconic tower of the newly cleaned Barnsley town hall will be illuminated red from dusk throughout November to highlight the month-long Go On Barnsley campaign.

In the coming weeks a multitude of internet-focused events will be held across the borough to help people appreciate the benefits of going online for work and recreation.

The campaigns executive officer, Martin Cantor, says: Go On Barnsley is a high-profile, wide-ranging activity that aims to make it easy for people to get online regularly.

During November the red light visible for miles around will act as a reminder that you can use the internet for anything from finding a new job or starting a business to shopping for groceries and keeping in touch with family and friends.

Go On Barnsley launches on Thursday at Barnsley Central Library in Shambles Street (10am to 3pm).

Representatives from the council, voluntary sector, leisure providers, community radio and many more will be on hand with advice and information. For more information about the event please call 01226 773921.
