Public utility companies also carry out work to maintain their apparatus and lay essential gas, water, electricity and telecommunication services in the roads and footways. Some of these works will require the use of temporary traffic signals or temporary road closures. The council keep a record of all these works. When requesting information or reporting a problem to the council please provide a brief description of the works, the location (road name and area), the type of work involved and who is carrying it out. On receipt of a request for information the council will aim to provide this within 48 hours. We should be able to advise you who is responsible for the works and how they may be contacted. All problems reported will be investigated and we will inform the relevant organisation within five working days or 24 hours if urgent.
