Our services are available to every commercial and industrial premises in the borough. We can ensure the safe and effective disposal of your waste.

The Commercial Waste Collection service provides a wide range of waste collection and disposal services including:

• refuse collection using a range of containers to suit your needs. We can issue pre paid sacks where bin storage might be a problem or pre paid tags to attach to large parcels of cardboard, for example.
• a clinical waste collection and disposal. Quotations given for removal of one off loads or items.
• we will endeavour to meet your collection needs with collections five days a week.

 

Eligibility

 

This service is available to every commercial and industrial premise in the borough. We will collect most types of commercial waste.

You can contact us for information on hazardous waste, for example, asbestos. This is a specialised field but we can put you in touch with the right people.

 

How the customer can help

 

You can help by providing the Council with exact details of the type of refuse to be collected along with its location.

Please ensure your refuse is accessible on day of collection

• don’t overfill your waste containers or sacks
• don’t put glass or sharp objects in refuse sacks
• return waste oil to your supplier
• double-bag food waste to prevent leakage

If we miss a collection, let us know straightaway.

Frequently Asked Questions

 

Why isn’t a trade waste collection service covered by my business rates?

As a business, you are able to choose who provides your trade waste collection service. You can choose a private contractor to provide the service for you. For this reason, the cost of collecting trade waste from businesses is not included in the Business Rate; otherwise you would be paying twice.

If you ask us to collect the waste, we are required to provide you with this service at a reasonable charge. If you do choose to have your trade waste collected by a private contractor, you must make sure that you are meeting your ‘duty of care’.

What can I expect from the service?

We will:

• collect your waste on the agreed day(s) wherever possible
• clear up any waste spilled during collection if it is the fault of the crew
• in most cases, repair damage to a waste container hired from us within seven to ten working days of you letting us know

What size bin can I have?

Dependant of Customer requirements, we supply 4 bin sizes, pre-paid sacks and tags.

How much will the service cost me?

Dependant on bin size.

Can I change my bin size if I find that it is too big or not big enough?

Yes.

How often will my bin be emptied?

Weekly.

What do I do if my bin gets lost or damaged?

What do I do if I no longer want the service?

We require one months notice in writing.

Can my bin be locked?

Only the 660 ltr & 1100 ltr containers are lockable.

Are the bins vermin proof?

Yes, provided lids are kept closed.

Do I have to wheel my bin out for collection?

Please ensure that the container is accessible on day of collection.

Can I chain the bin to the wall?

Yes, but please ensure chain is removed on day of collection or supply a key for the crew.

What sort of access do I need for the dustbin lorry?

Please ensure that access is available for crew to drive as near as possible to containers.
