FAIR TRADING
To ensure the public are not deceived and all traders within xxxx operate in a fair manner.
To protect the public from unfair trading practices, by compliance with the law such as Trade Descriptions Act, Consumer Credit Act, Hallmarking Act, etc.
FOOD COMPOSITION AND LABELLING
To ensure that all food produced or sold from businesses within and outside xxxx satisfy legal compositional and labelling requirements.
SUNDAY TRADING
To ensure compliance with the law determining the opening hours on a Sunday.
HOME SAFETY
To promote safety in the home and reduce the number of accidents in and around the home.
ADVICE SERVICES
To provide a comprehensive advice service for consumers and traders.
LENDING
To ensure fairness in consumer lending and truth in the advertising of credit facilities.
METROLOGY
To provide legal metrology services which ensure protection of consumers and traders alike at a level appropriate to the resources available and to the degree of protection required.
