The council has a duty to remove dead animals from Council land, including animals involved in Road Traffic Accidents which cause an obstruction on the highway/footpath. Dead animals may include cats, dogs, badgers, foxes or larger animals such as deer, and they will be removed within 48 hours of being reported.
This process applies to anyone wishing to request the removal of a dead animal.

What happens to dead animals when they are removed?
All animals, once removed, are disposed of as quickly as possible for health and hygiene reasons. Please note that we are unable to keep dead animals for private burial.
Does the Council keep a record of dead animals removed?
Brief details are recorded on a database of the deceased animals such as date of find, description of animal and any identifying marks or tags. The information is kept on our database for a period of six months.
Can I use this service to report problems with live animals?
This service is strictly for the collection of dead animals. We provide separate Animal Warden and Pest Control services for problems with live animals.
