Neighbourhood Pride deals with all issues that affect street cleanliness; including grass cutting, litter collection, shrub bed maintenance, street sweeping, needle collections, and graffiti removal.
Discarded needles are collected and disposed of when reported or found.
Available to all Council departments, householders and businesses. At present we are unable to offer a needle seach and collection service within properties. We can offer help by supplying a needle sharps box to owners/occupiers to put the needles in and we will then arrange for the disposal of the disgarded needles
Please report incidents of discarded needles.
The customer can contact 01226 775656 or Barnsley Connects centre, and give details of the discarded needles (quantity, location). The information would be directed to the relevant Neighbourhood Pride supervisor, who would arrange removal. Any evidence found as to the perpetrators of the tipping will be passed onto the council's 'Environmental Regulatory Unit' to take enforcement action.
Please advise the customer not to touch any syringes they find, unless it is necessary to do so in order to protect children etc.
From 9am until 5pm please report a problem through the BARNSLEY CONNECTS CONTACT CENTRE by telephoning (01226) 775656.
Discarded needle collection is mainly free of charge, although in some instances a charge may be incurred.
Where a charge has been incurred an invoice will be sent.
No customer facing reception points for Neighbourhood Pride. Contact can be made through Area Housing offices.
