Neighbourhood Pride deals with all issues that affect street cleanliness, including grass cutting, litter collection, shrub bed maintenance, street sweeping, needle collections, and graffiti removal. Many estates have been planned on the open plan principle, whereby the front and sometimes the rear are open and grassed. These are maintained by the Council.
The Council will cut the grass on all Council owned land -highways, verges, public open spaces, schools, parks, town centers, memorial gardens and cemeteries. This does not include council tenants, enclosed front and rear gardens.
Available to all Council departments.
Grass is cut to agreed schedules as appropriate. The Council cuts the grass it owns approximately every 2 weeks in summer (end March to end October). During May and June the frequency is increased due to the rapid growth.
Grass is to be kept to a maximum height of 100mm on 50% of a plot between mid-March to October by using a flexible cutting frequency; either 8, 10 or 12 working day frequency to achieve this specification.
The aim is to achieve 14 cuts each growing season.
