Street Cleansing Programme

Summary

 Neighbourhood Services is responsible for cleaning the Town Centre precinct and the urban district town centres. The boroughs streets and footpaths are cleaned on a regular basis. These are cleaned on a daily, weekly or monthly cycle, We remove the accumulation of rubbish from Council land and empty the litter bins.

 There is a charge for removal of litter and fly tipped rubbish on private land

 

Method of Payment

 You can pay by credit card / debit card, alternatively payment can be made by invoice through the Barnsley connects offices.

 

How the Customer can Help

 If you wish to report rubbish on streets, waste bins that need emptying or bins that have been vandalised in your area, please contact us. To help us deal with the problem; we need to know the exact location on the street, the type of rubbish it is and an approximate size of the load. If a street lamp is near by with a number on it you can quote this as a reference point to ensure the exact location is identified.

Please Help by being responsible with your litter and use the facilities that are available :-

• Use the free House hold waste Recycling centres for unwanted items - alternatively contact the Waste Management department who will collect items that you are unable to take to the recycling centres ( There is a charge for this service)
• Have registered waste collection contracts for your business.
• Be tidy with your litter and chewing gum.
• Clean up after your dog.
• Report "fly posting" it is untidy and illegal.
• Report "fly tipping" it is untidy and illegal.
• Try not to park where you want us to clean

When will my street be litter picked?

All the street within Barnsley should be litter picked at least once per month. Some areas like village town centres are usually done twice per day.
