Baby Naming, Re-Affirmation Of Marriage Vows And Commitment Ceremonies

A number of additional services are now being offered to the people of Barnsley.

Baby Naming

Naming ceremonies offer families an opportunity to welcome a child into the family and the wider community and to announce the name, or names, which have been chosen. The service cannot have any religious content and has no legal status.

Re-affirmation of Marriage Vows

Ceremonies are now being offered to couples who wish to renew their marriage vows. The service cannot have any religious content and has no legal status. Re-affirmation ceremonies can be used for a variety of purposes.

Some couples choose to marry abroad but wish to have a celebration for their family and friends when they return to this country, others choose to renew their marriage vows to celebrate a wedding anniversary or maybe even after they have been through a difficult time in their marriage.

Commitment

Commitment ceremonies are available to couples who wish to publicly display their commitment to each other, but for whatever reason are unable, or do not, wish to marry. The service is available to same-sex and opposite sex couples. The ceremony cannot have any religious content and has no legal status.

All of the ceremonies are carried out by fully trained celebrants and can be held at any venue which holds a Public Entertainment Licence; is a registered club; or is licensed to hold civil marriage ceremonies or at the Register Office, Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley.
