The re-registering of a birth is permitted under certain circumstances:-
Re-registration forms are available from the Register Office to where they should be returned after completion. Some re-registrations will be authorised in the Register Office, in which case you will need to make an appointment to attend. However, some re-registration applications do have to be referred to the Register General for consideration. The Register Office staff will be able to advise you of which course of action is applicable to you.
There is no charge for re-registration, but if you wish to obtain a Birth Certificate showing re-registration details then normal certificate fees apply.
Payment can be made by cash, cheques, credit and debit cards. Cheques should be made payable to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.

Our opening hours are 9.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday. An out of hours service is not available at the moment but appointments outside the normal office hours may be possible. Contact the Register Office for details.
