Councillor John Parkinson

Biographical Information

Councillor John Parkinson represents the Darton East Ward.  He was elected in May 2008 and his term of office expires in 2012.  He is a member of the Labour Group

Councillor Parkinson has served on the Council since 2002.

The Ward Map displays the boundaries of all the electoral districts in the Barnsley borough.

The majority of Members hold regular informal ward meetings known as surgeries, details of which are updated on a weekly basis.

Councillor Parkinson is the Vice Chair of Appeals and Awards Regulatory Board he also sits on the following: Housing & Community Safety Scrutiny Commission, Children's Services Scrutiny Commission, Planning Regulatory Board and General Licensing Regulatory Board.

Councillor Parkinson also sits on the following Outside Bodies: George Beaumont Foundation, South Yorkshire Police Authority, Barnsley Multi Agency Panel to Combat Racial Harassment, Barnsley Safety Communities Partnership, and South Yorkshire Transport Users’ Advisory Group.

Councillor Parkinson is a Governor at Darton Primary School.
