Biographical Information
Councillor Len Picken represents the St Helen’s Ward. He was elected in June 2004 and his term of office expires in 2008. He is a Member of the Labour Group.
Councillor Picken has served on the Council since 1994.
Councillor Picken was the Mayor of Barnsley for the municipal year 2007/2008.
The Ward Map displays the boundaries of all the electoral districts in the Barnsley borough.
The majority of Members hold regular informal ward meetings known as surgeries details of which are updated on a weekly basis.

Councillor Picken sits on the following: Environment Scrutiny Commission, Regeneration Scrutiny Commission, Planning Regulatory Board, General Licensing Regulatory Board and Appeals and Awards Regulatory Board.
Councillor Picken sits on the following Outside Bodies: Food and Health Policy Review Committee, New Lodge Community Centre Management Committee Peak Park Upper Longdendale Members Advisory Group and Roundhouse Sure Start Programme Management Committee.
Councillor Picken is a Governor at Athersley North Primary School and Richard Newman Primary School.
