Biographical Information

Councillor Stokes represents the Central Ward.  He was elected in May 2007 and his term of office expires in 2011.  He is a member of the Labour Group.

Councillor Stokes is the Cabinet Spokesperson without Portfolio.

Councillor Stokes has served on the Council since 2002. 

The Ward Map displays the boundaries of all the electoral districts in the Barnsley borough.

The majority of Members hold regular informal ward meetings known as surgeries, details of which are updated on a weekly basis.

Councillor Stokes is also on the following Outside Bodies:  Joint Committee for the South Yorkshire Archaeology Service, LGA General Assembly, Northern College Board of Governors, Shaw Lands Trust, South Yorkshire Improvement Programme, South Yorkshire Joint Archives Service and South Yorkshire Trading Standards Joint Committee.

Councillor Stokes is a Governor at Burton Road Primary School and St.Helen’s Primary School.
