Consultation and Engagement

Hello and welcome to information about consultation and engagement activity being promoted by your local Council.
People have a right to say how they feel and express their opinion on matters that affect them as individuals or their families locally and nationally. People are more used to having their say and expect their opinions to be taken seriously.
The Council promotes a number of ways in which people can get involved either in their local area or at a borough wide level. Getting involved and making a contribution to decision making can take various forms, from completing a questionnaire to attending public meetings or a focus group. It all depends on the time you have available, how interested you are in the topic or topics being discussed and importantly your understanding of how your views will count towards changing the status quo.
The Council is very committed to ensuring opportunities to get involved are well promoted and that residents do feel their views indeed count and can make a difference.
To find out what opportunities are available to you other than the live consultations publicised here, contact the Performance Improvement Unit on 01226 775797 or email us at: consultation@barnsley.gov.uk
