The Chief Executive'sPolicy & Performance Division is responsible for the corporate monitoring & reporting of our services' performance. Other work is targeted at ensuring Council services continually improve & are provided in ways that meet the needs of all local communities in the modern era.

This part of the Council Web site has been developed to provide you with information on the performance of Council services & also contains links to other Web sites containing relevant supporting information.

The content of this site firstly outlines the Council's approach to performance management, and also contains information on the following specific aspects of the Council's performance-related activities:

• Local Area Agreements - a new requirement for each area to set out the improvement priorities and targets for the next three years.
• Comprehensive Performance Assessment - a national performance framework led by the Audit Commission, which looks at how well councils are run, and how well they deliver their key services.
• Best Value Performance Indicators - this set of performance indicators is set by central government, collected by most local authorities, and is intended to provide a picture of councils' achievements in a range of key service areas.
• Best Value Performance Plan - a statutory document which the Council is required to produce every year, setting out performance against BVPIs, achievements during the previous year, and plans for the year ahead.
• Other external Inspection Information - details of what external agencies say about the quality of services provided by the Council.
