General Licensing Board

The role of the General Licensing Board is to deal with licensing matters within policies set by the Council.
These include areas such as:-
- hackney carriages/private hire
- amusements with prizes permits
- track betting Licences
- sex establishments
- small lotteries
- house to house and street collections
- appeals received in respect of the refusal of applications for the registration of premises for civil marriages.
The Board consists of 25 Members, Chairman and Vice Chairman and includes Opposition Members. Cabinet Members are excluded (Cabinet Support Members are eligible for membership).
Meeting are held every 4 weeks and are held in public, with provision for private sessions (with explanation), where necessary. Meeting are programmed on a regular cycle.
Statutory requirements regarding public representations will be met.
