Penistone cemetery extension opens
A ONE-ACRE extension to
The £80,000 investment increases the overall size of the cemetery to nine acres, and will extend its viability by at least 50 years.
Mayor of Barnsley Cllr Margaret Morgan will officially open the new extension at 2pm. This will be followed by a consecration performed by the Bishop of Pontefract, the Right Reverend Tony Robinson.
Cllr Morgan said: The extension to the cemetery will allow residents of Penistone and its surrounding villages to continue to remain at the place they call home and be buried alongside their loved ones, as would be their wish.
