CONTINUED heavy rainfall throughout Barnsley has caused the worst natural disaster in living memory, with clean-up operations expected to take several weeks.
The extensive flooding has affected between 400 and 600 houses and caused multiple road closures across the borough.
Residents are asked not to make any unnecessary journeys as standing water is still causing problems on the roads.
People are also asked to note that as flood water levels are no longer rising, sandbags will not be delivered out to properties.
Barnsley residents suffering from further flood problems are asked to ring a dedicated helpline number in the event of emergencies on 01226 770770.
