BARNSLEY Council has received a further £1.785M to undertake energy efficiency works to council homes.
The money from the Homes and Communities Agency Social Housing Energy Savings Programme will improve 2,300 homes.
Cabinet Spokesperson for Development, Cllr Bill Newman, said: “This is excellent news for Barnsley, we have worked very closely with Berneslai Homes to secure this money and it will make a big difference for over 2,300 households.
“Given the large rise in fuel prices over the past few years, we need to do all we can to keep fuel bills as low as possible – whilst also doing as much as we can for the environment.”
The Berneslai Homes will shortly be contacting people who are on the programme and all works should be completed by September next year.
