STRESSED out by the season of good will? Call in at Barnsley Central Library, Shambles Street, on Monday, 21 December between 10am and 3 pm for a free blood pressure check.
Health trainers from Barnsley’s Association of Community Partnerships will be carrying out the checks as well as providing information on how to cope when the stress of the festive season is too much.
Library staff will be able to guide you to their stock of self help books, which cover a number of subjects ranging from dealing with panic attacks to managing irritability and anger. There will also be a display of books on living with high or low blood pressure - including cookery books containing relevant recipes.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, said: “At this stressful time of year it is sometimes our health which suffers. This drop-in day will offer people a chance to get information and a vital check up - and the opportunity to sit down! Barnsley Libraries are pleased to be involved with this worthwhile project.”
