You got the Love?

Join big-hearted Barnsley Council and Voluntary Action Barnsley in fundraising for local projects. 

On Friday, 12 February, Barnsley Council employees will be dressing down for the day and Voluntary Action Barnsley is holding a fun event selling pie and peas and valentines cards, from 12.30pm, to raise money for the Barnsley cause as part of the I Love Barnsley fundraising campaign.

Money raised in Barnsley stays in Barnsley. Every £1 is matched by £1 from the government.  A donation of £2 will be turned into over £5, thanks to match funding and gift aid.  This money will be used to support community and voluntary groups who are best placed to tackle local issues. As these groups are mainly run by volunteers, the majority of the money goes on addressing local issues, rather than on wages.

Let’s make sure that no money is lost from Barnsley!

Groups will be able to apply for grants in April 2011.  If community and voluntary groups need funding now, they can apply for Grassroots Grants, which are available until March 2011.
