AS the first week of February is National Storytelling Week, why not celebrate by making a visit to your local library?
With a range of stories for all ages in books, on CD or DVD, and with most branches running story times for pre-school children; the end to your child’s day is bound to have a happy ending!
Cabinet Spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, Cllr Roy Miller, said: “Libraries have always recognised the value of storytelling and sharing books as part of a child’s speech and language development.
“Our libraries in Barnsley have a tremendous choice of books suitable for bedtime stories, and also offer the opportunity for parents to bring their children along to our Story Time sessions to hear new stories, pick up storytelling tips, and meet other families.”
Sessions running during National Storytelling Week will take place at Barnsley Central, Darton, Dodworth, Hoyland Nether, Monk Bretton, Worsbrough, and Thurnscoe libraries, as well as Cudworth Centre of Excellence.
For more details, phone or call in at your local library, or visit the Children’s Services section of the website at www.barnsley.gov.uk/libraries
