Coffee, buns and Agatha Raisin at Barnsley library

ANOTHER popular author talk will take place at Barnsley Central Library, Shambles Street, on Friday 29 January at 11am. MC Beaton, author of the popular Agatha Raisin series has been warmly invited to discuss her books.

MC Beaton has also written over a hundred historical novels under a variety of pseudonyms including Ann Fairfax and Marion Chesney. She is also the creator of the Hamish Macbeth series based in the fictional Scottish village of Lochdubh.

Her series featuring Cotswold-based amateur detective Agatha Raisin has become a global success and several of the books have been broadcast on radio.

The morning will include not only a talk by MC Beaton about her books, but also tea or coffee and buns, provided by the publishers of the Agatha Raisin books for a small charge. There will also be the opportunity to buy copies of the books and have them signed.

Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, said: “Barnsley Libraries are delighted to host this coffee morning with a difference .The success of this series of author talks has been phenomenal and we are very happy to be involved with it.”
