ACCESS to a number of council services via the website will be unavailable over the next two weekends as work to relocate the Computer Centre continues.
Below is a summary of the impact on services to the public over the two weekends, but further information will be published on the council’s website in the coming days in advance of any moves.
Friday, 15 to Sunday, 17 January
Key online systems will be unavailable for the duration of the weekend including the online recruitment facility, the recently-launched online pest control service and searches against planning applications.
Friday, 22 to Sunday, 24 January
All online services will be unavailable for the duration of the weekend including the entire council website (including those services mentioned above) and there will also be no ability to pay for certain council services online and through the telephone. However, general contact to council services through the telephone should remain unaffected.
It should be noted that the work is likely to begin on the Friday evening and last until late into the Sunday night. Normal services should be resumed by the time the council opens for business on the Monday morning.
The creation of brand new data centre facilities at Beevor Court continues to provide a base for Bull TCL, the council’s strategic ICT partner.
As a result of this major move, the council will have access to a state of the art IT infrastructure that will result in improved accessibility of systems, a reduction in the amount of time when systems are unavailable and also a reduction in the environmental impact of operating our IT systems.
System availability is likely to be affected until the relocation activity is completed. However, all endeavours will be made to keep this to a minimum.
