Barnsley young people invited to ‘posh it up’

A BIG Brother-style diary room housed in a stretch limo will tour Barnsley’s streets, parks and youth clubs during July and August as the borough’s Youth Council invite young people to give their views on the issues that are important to them.

Running alongside the glamorous limo stops will be a wide variety of activities to keep young people entertained, including workshops from professional graffiti artists, arts and crafts, a mobile dance machine and much more. The grand tour of the borough is being organised by the Barnsley Youth Service's Voice and Influence team.

Involving Young People Co-ordinator Emma Baines said: "The roadshow will be a great chance for young people in Barnsley to get their voices heard on issues that may be affecting them or their communities.

“We will also be giving young people information about the government’s ‘Youth Opportunity Fund’, which enables young people to apply for money to spend on projects, activities and improvements to services in their local area. The roadshow will give them a taste of the kind of things that they are able to apply for. “

The funding for the roadshow and its activities has come from Barnsley's democratically elected Youth Council, members of which will also be supporting the roadshow in their areas.
