NEW readers at Barnsley libraries in August have the opportunity to exercise their body as well as their minds with a free prize draw.
2008 has been designated National Year of Reading, with a series of monthly themes at the libraries, including ‘Read All About It’, ‘Mind and Body’ and ‘You Are What You Read’.
August’s theme is ‘Read the Game’ and to mark this, all adults who register and borrow books at their local library during the month will be given the opportunity to enter a draw to win one of two sporting themed packages.
Penistone and District Community Partnership have generously donated one Tae Kwondo stress releasing punch bag and one gym pack containing leg and arm exercising kit.
Joining the library has never been so easy people don’t even need to bring ID with them and can borrow books straight away. Libraries offer so much more than books - music CDs, DVDs (including the latest blockbusters), readers groups, computer courses, baby and toddler story sessions and free Internet use. To help with keep fit regimes, people can even borrow exercise DVDs and music to relax with.
