PEOPLE interested in learning a new language or taking up British Sign Language can take advantage of series of free short taster courses offered by Barnsley Council’s Adult and Family Learning service.
As well as being an introduction for anyone wanting to study these subjects from September, the courses can be used as a way of learning a few useful phrases for holiday purposes or for communicating with a friend or relative with hearing problems.
The courses on offer are as follows:
French at Dodworth Library, High Street, Dodworth on Wednesdays 9 to 23 July from 9.30am to 11.30am
Spanish at Hoyland Community Centre, Hoyland Road, Hoyland on Thursdays from 9.30am to 11.30am, running from 10 to 24 July.
Italian at Wharncliffe Communal Centre, Gilroyd, Dodworth, on Thursdays, running from 10 to 24 July from 1pm to 3pm.
The British Sign Language classes will run for two weeks on Mondays, 7 and 14 July at the following times and venues: 9.30am to 11.30am at the Acorn Centre, Grimethorpe, and 1pm to 3pm at the Dearne Enterprise Centre, Goldthorpe.
