Security equipment for both the home and personal use is now on sale at Barnsley Connects in the Civic, Eldon Street.
Security Connects is a non-profit making initiative funded by Barnsley Community Safety Service. It is part of the service’s ongoing efforts to to raise safety awareness. An earlier pilot in the Dearne area was well received, with 756 products being sold in the first six months.
Items on sale include personal attack alarms, door scopes, window locks, UV property marking pens, door chains, shed alarms and more, all at reduced prices. Age Concern’s Handyman service has agreed to install any items purchased by over 60s for free.
The scheme is expected to be rolled out across the borough to al the Barnsley Connects centres in due course.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, said: This initiative went down really well in the Dearne area and I hope that it is equally well received in the town centre. The equipment we have on sale is of a high standard and at very competitive prices.
“Safety is important to all of us, so I hope people take advantage of this offer and take some simple, precautionary steps in securing their homes, belongings and personal safety.”
Barnsley Connects is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
