Barnsley MBC Adult and Family Learning is offering free introductory courses in two popular subjects – British Sign Language and Spanish - to allow new learners to sample the classes.
Introductory British Sign Language will run for a period of four weeks, starting Tuesday, 24 June, at Wharncliffe Communal Centre, off Saville Road, Gilroyd, Dodworth. The class will be held from 6pm to 8.30pm.
For those who are free to attend classes during the day, there will be another chance to attend a British Sign Language course at Hoyland Common, starting Wednesday, 25June, again for a period of four weeks. The course will be held at the Community Centre on Hoyland Road from 9.30am to 11.30am.
People hoping to head for the sun this summer can take advantage of a beginners’ Spanish course which will run for five weeks from 9.30am to 11.30am at Barugh Green Community Centre, Barugh Green Road, starting Tuesday, 24 June.
This course will concentrate on the kind of language holidaymakers will need for getting by in Spain - greeting people, using the currency, buying food and drink and finding their way around.
Extended programmes in both of these subjects will be available for those who wish to continue their studies in September.
For further information, or to book a place on any of these courses, please contact Keith Brock on 01226 - 775290, or by e-mail to keithbrock@barnsley.gov.uk
