VOLUNTEER rangers removed litter and tidied up the Royston section of the Trans Pennine Trail this week.
The area had suffered badly from fly-tipping and rubbish left along most of its length, making it less accessible and attractive to users.
The Royston section follows the towpath of the disused Barnsley Canal and hosts a wide range of flora and fauna - fly-tipping and rubbish detracts from its beauty.
The volunteer rangers who came from all over the borough and beyond worked alongside BMBC staff to tidy the section.
The Trans Pennine Trail is a coast-to-coast route that runs from Southport in the West to Hornsea in the east.
