The Barnsley Boundary Relay Race will be taking place on Sunday, 8 June. The race will start at 8am from Cannon Hall, Cawthorne.
The 73 mile route, made of ten stages between four and 11 miles long, circumnavigates the old Barnsley boundary. Starting and finishing at Cannon Hall, the route takes competitors to Hickleton, Tankersley and Winscar.
Many teams have signed up from Barnsley AC, Wakefield, Barnsley Harriers, Penistone, Kingstone, Denby Dale and Kimberworth. They will be running the 73 miles of countryside footpaths, trails and lanes.
The event, presented by Barnsley Rockley Rotary Club and sponsored by Barnsley Premier Leisure, will conclude with an evening prize ceremony (6.30pm) attended by the Mayor of Barnsley Cllr Ken Sanderson. This will be followed by a buffet at the Barnsley Metrodome. All funds raised will go to Rotary charities.
Although entries are now closed there is ample opportunity to watch the race progress around the Barnsley boundary on the day.
