A HEALTH and lifestyle awareness event for people with learning disabilities takes place at the Metrodome, Queens Road, Barnsley, on Wednesday, 4 June from 10am to 3pm.
The event is the first of its kind and will host an extensive range of exhibitors to give advice to people with learning disabilities and their family and carers.
Chief Executive of Barnsley’s Primary Care Trust, Ailsa Claire, has been invited to officially open the event at 10am.
Throughout the day there will be district nurses carrying out blood pressure tests, family planning advice, dietary advice and weighing, hearing and sight tests, podiatry, dentistry, fruit tasting and free smoothies, a nail bar, representatives from Boots Number 7 and pharmacy counters, advice from Fit for the Future, Barnsley College information, and much more.
The event has been organised by Barnsley Integrated Learning Disability Service, including Adult Social Services and Barnsley PCT. It is open to service users from Barnsley, Rotherham, Sheffield and Doncaster.
