PUPILS from Dearne High Specialist Humanities College will be promoting their new book Fool’s Gold with a short talk at Barnsley’s Central Library, Shambles Street, on Tuesday, 1 December at 10am.
The book, which is a graphic novel, has been written by the students with collaboration and advice from authors including GP Taylor, Ian McMillan and Bernard Cornwell and others.
Bali Rai, who is a key contributor, is a well established author of teenage fiction and will be at the library with the students to explain how the book came to be written.
Dearne High is not new to the publishing world – its pupils’ first book “Out of the Shadows” - an anthology of fantasy stories, written with advice from GP Taylor, was published in 2007.
Cllr Roy Miller, Cabinet Spokesperson for Customer and Neighbourhood Services, said, “Barnsley Libraries are pleased to be hosting this event with Dearne High School whose pupils are proof that one is never too young to begin on a writing career!”
