Trans Pennine Trail
The Countryside Group also provides support to the team co-ordinating the 26 Local Authorities across the north of England who are combining to create the Trans Pennine Trail.
This is a coast to coast route for walkers, cyclists and partly for horse riders, which joins the historic cities of Liverpool and Hull, with extensions to the seaside towns of Southport and Hornsea, and was officially opened in September 2001.
The Trail was completed with financial support of a £5.8m National Lottery grant from the Millennium Commission.
