Barnsley Education Sites Submission Development Plan Document Proposed Changes Consultation 21st July 2008 to 1st September 2008

This consultation has now ended. The Proposed Changes Statement of Consultation (247kb) summarises the representations that were received during this consultation period and gives the Council’s response to them.

The Barnsley Education Sites Development Plan Document (DPD) sets out the proposed sites for the Advanced Learning Centres to be built on sites not previously used as schools and was submitted to the Secretary of State in December 2007. A Planning Inspector is currently examining the document by written representations. This means that no public pre-examination or examination meetings will be held.

As part of this process the Council is proposing a number of modest changes to the Submission version of the DPD, to the Inspector. If the Inspector recommends that the changes are made, they will be included in the adopted version of the DPD.

These changes include the addition of a new section on implementation and monitoring and improved cross referencing to the DPD's evidence base. No changes to the sites or policies included in the DPD, or the Sustainability Appraisal have been proposed.

The Council would like to invite you to comment on the Schedule of Proposed Changes (453 kb) during the formal 6 week consultation period running from 21st July 2008 to 1st September 2008.

Paper copies of the schedule are also available:

  • By telephoning Planning Policy on 01226 772606
  • By e-mailing planningpolicy@barnsley.gov.uk
  • At Barnsley Central Library and branch libraries across the Borough, during normal opening hours
  • At Barnsley Connects service centres across the Borough, during normal opening hours

Comments made at this stage will be considered by an independent Planning Inspector and should only be related to the proposed changes document and the soundness of the proposed changes. Therefore, we advise you to make your comments on our Online Consultation System. If you are using the online system for the first time, you will be required to register (provide you name, address and email address).

The benefits of the online consultation system are that it saves on paper and reduces postage costs.

If you do not wish to use the online consultation system you can still make comments in writing. Written comments should be made on the formal Comments Sheet (478 kb) and returned to us:

  • By email to planningpolicy@barnsley.gov.uk
  • By post to: Planning Policy, Planning and Transportation Service, BMBC, PO Box 604, Barnsley, S70 9FE
  • Or by fax to 01226 772199

Please use one method of reply only to avoid duplication of comments.

All responses must be received by 4.00pm on Monday 1st September 2008. Late submissions cannot be considered.

The Inspector’s Report will be made publically available following the examination.

You may also request to be notified of the publication of the Inspector’s Report following the Independent Examination into the DPD and/or, the adoption of the DPD.

We have also produced a Statement of Consultation (182 kb) which describes how we have involved people in the Submission version of the DPD.
