Consultation Dates 10th December 2007 to 28th January 2008
The Barnsley Education Sites Development Plan Document sets out the sites we propose for the new Advanced Learning Centres needed for the reorganisation of Barnsley's secondary schools. This document has been through two rounds of public consultation, the last being the Preferred Options consultation which took place from October to December 2006.
The Development Plan Document, its associated Background Paper and Sustainability Appraisal are available for you to comment on. You can view these documents here:
Barnsley Education Sites Submission Development Plan Document (4.5mb)
Background Paper (29.3mb)
Sustainability Appraisal (316kb)
Sustainability Appraisal Non-technical Summary (195kb)
In producing the Submission Development Plan Document comments made during previous consultations have been taken into account. A summary of the comments received during the Preferred Options consultation, together with the details of how we involved people throughout the production of the document is shown in the Statement of Consultation (1.2mb).

We consider that the Development Plan Document is 'sound' (fit for purpose) and to demonstrate this have produced a Soundness Self Assessment (48kb). However, the final decision as to whether the Development Plan Document is sound and should be adopted will be made by a Planning Inspector at the examination.
For your comments to be considered by the Planning Inspector at the examination they should be related to the soundness of the Development Plan Document. Therefore, we advise you to read the Planning Inspectorate's Guidance Notes (48kb) on making comments about submission documents and then to make your comments on our New Online Consultation System . If you are using the online system for the first time, you will be required to register (provide your name, address and email address).
The benefits of the online consultation system are that it saves on paper and reduces postage costs. It also allows you to comment on the parts of the document that interest you and to see the comments other people are making.
If you do not wish to use the online consultation system you can still make comments in writing. Written comments should be made on the formal submission comments sheet, below:
Submission Comments Sheet (496kb)
Written Submission comments sheets should be returned to us:
Please use one method of reply only to duplication of comments.
All responses must be received by 4.00pm on Monday 28th January 2008. Late submissions cannot be considered.
