Cost of Providing the Building Control Service 2007/08
Since April 1999, Building Control has had the autonomy for the setting of charges for the administration of the Building Control function. BMBC sets charges for work carried out in relation to Building regulations, with the aim of covering all cost incurred so that income and costs break even over a 3 year rolling period. However, certain activities performed by the Building Control service cannot be charged for, such as providing general advice and liasing with other statutory authorities.
The following table details the cost of providing our service, including both fee earning (1) and non-fee earning (2) services for the financial year 2007/08. It shows the approximate percentage of time that is allocated to each of our service commitments to you, together with the cost involved for providing that service.
