Summary

The Council can advise if permission is needed to fell, prune or uproot a tree and how to go about obtaining permission before work starts. The Council can provide advice to landowners and developers on how to deal with trees and hedgerows on development sites.

Eligibility

This Service is available to anyone who wishes to carry out works to trees or hedgerows.

Procedure

To find out if a tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order and how to obtain permission to prune or fell a tree contact the Forestry Officer by telephoning (01226) 772557 or e-mail: frankrobinson@barnsley.gov.uk

Applications to do works to trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders are Free of Charge.

Planning Reception openning times are:-

8.30 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday

8.30 am - 4.30 pm Friday
