If you are thinking of making alterations to your property, first need to determine if planning permission is required.

It will be likely that you require planning permission if you want to build a new home, alter or extend a property, or change it’s use.

From 1st October 2008 new regulations have been introduced that affect what householder developments require Planning permission. Generally the new regulations now mean that more projects are permitted development. Permitted development is development which does not require planning permission.

Below is a link to the Planning Portal which lists a number of common projects. The information included will help you assess if planning permission is required for your development.
