The Council can advise if permission is needed to fell, prune or uproot a tree and how to go about obtaining permission before work starts. The Council can provide advice to landowners and developers on how to deal with trees and hedgerows on development sites.
This Service is available to anyone who wishes to carry out works to trees or hedgerows.
To find out if a tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order and how to obtain permission to prune or fell a tree contact the Forestry Officer by telephoning (01226) 772557.

Applications to do works to trees covered by Tree Preservation Orders are Free of Charge.
8.30 am - 5.00 pm Monday to Thursday
8.30 am - 4.30 pm Friday
You should provide the site address including postcode (where possible) of the tree(s) you are interested in and any necessary details of ownership

General advice on trees is provided by local Tree Surgeons who usually give free advice and submit any necessary application on the behalf of owners.
