Fair Processing Policy
The Council will process and use information collected for Council Tax purposes in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988 and relevant legislation.
The Council has a statutory duty to protect the public funds it administers. We are required under section 6 of the Audit Commission Act 1988 to participate in the National Fraud Initiative(NFI) data matching excercise. As such we advise householders that the data held by the Council for Council Tax purposes will be provided to the Audit Commission for NFI matching and will be used for cross system and cross authority comparison for the prevention and detection of fraud. Data may also be used for checks with other organisations.
Information may be disclosed to other Council departments and auditors where it is necessary and lawful to do so. Your personal information will not be disclosed to third parties for marketing purposes.
