The Council will process and use the information collected for Council Tax purposes in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1988 and relevant legislation.
The Council has a statutory duy to protect the public funds administered by the authority. We are required under section 6 of the Audit Commission Act 1988 to participate in the National Fraud Initiative(NFI) data matching excercise. We advise householders that the data held by the authority for Council Tax purposes will be provided to the Audit Commission for NFI and will be used for cross system and cross authority comparison for the prevention and detection of fraud. Data may also be used for checks with other organisations.
Information may be disclosed to other Council departments where it is necessary and lawful to do so. We will not disclose your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
