People who leave school or college aged under 20 years, during the period between 1st May and 31st October are disregarded for Council Tax purposes.
If a property is only occupied by school or college leavers it may be exempt.
Eligibility applies to school or college leavers under the age of 20 years who have left either establishment after 30 April (and are not counted until 1st November).
If you wish to claim a discount, please complete the Council Tax Discounts - School and College Leavers form and return it to the Benefits and Taxation Division.

You can help by providing accurate information, having your Council Tax number to hand when making your enquiry and completing and signing the appropriate form.
Forms are scanned onto a computer to create electronic images. To enable the form to be easily read please complete it using dark blue or black ink.
Applicants must inform the Council as soon as possible if there are any changes to the information provided. This may affect the Council Tax charge and applicants will have to repay any discount that they are not entitled to.
