Early years provision in Barnsley is overseen by the Barnsley Choices Board (Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership).

The board, set up in 1998 to draw together the different sectors concerned with early years and childcare throughout the borough, is now responsible for developing childcare for 0-14 year olds, and for early years education in maintained schools. It works in partnership with private, independent and voluntary sector providers to:

  • ensure provision of free early education places for all three and four year old children;
  • support, advise and offer training and resources to all early years education and childcare providers

If you are a parent or a provider and need advice, support, or guidance on early years, you can access the Barnsley Choices website. Alternatively, you can find them at Brierley Hall, Church Street, Brierley, Barnsley S72 9HT or contact them on (01226) 775977
