Childcare Arrangements During School Holidays

Play schemes operate during school holidays and are designed to provide a wide range of activities to stimulate and entertain children. They usually open five days a week. Childminders and day nurseries also offer places during school holidays

If a childcare setting caters for children under eight years of age, they must be registered by Ofsted. If they open more than two hours a day on more than five days a year, again they must be registered with Ofsted. Some facilities, such as sports clubs, are exempt from this process.

Opening Times / Locations

Out of school schemes/school holiday places are open in the school holidays, usually from 8.00am until 6.00pm, but times may vary depending on parents' requirements. Some holiday clubs only open for selected weeks in the holidays. Contact specific settings for details.
