What do we need to do to arrange instrumental music lessons?
If a PADS teacher is already attending your child's school and you would like to arrange lessons through the school, contact the school. If you would like to arrange lessons through PADS centre telephone PADS (01226) 291525 and speak to the Music Administrator or who will add your details to our waiting list (if applicable).
Is it possible to arrange music lessons after school?
Yes, it is possible to arrange for music lessons to take place at PADS centre after school.
How long is the waiting list?
This varies for each instrument, for example, with keyboard and guitar there is an exceedingly long waiting list, but the list for string instruments is shorter. We do try to keep people on the waiting list informed of the situation and we will contact them as soon as a vacancy arises.
What is the cost of music lessons?
If arranging through school, speak to the school, if arranging through PADS centre speak to someone in the instrumental music department. Lesson prices vary depending on length of time.
Will my child be able to take music examinations and how will this happen?
At present PADS use three examination boards and examinations take place at the PADS centre three times a year. When your child reaches the required standard, the PADS teacher will send a letter home advising parents/guardians and asking for permission to enter them for an examination. If parents are agreeable, they are given an examination form to complete and return to PADS. As soon as we are in receipt of examination dates and times they are given to PADS teachers to pass onto pupils.
Do you have a remissions policy?
Yes, if a child is in receipt of free school meals they are entitled to a free shared instrumental music lesson, and free hire of instrument.
Can my child have an individual lesson?
Yes, this can be arranged through the school or at PADS centre.
Can my child join a Music Group?
Yes, PADS Staff can direct you to the appropriate group and give details of times and costs. What other activities are available at PADS? There are opportunities to join Music Groups, including, Folk, Samba, Bands and Orchestras, Drama and Drama Groups. For more details contact PADS on 01226 291525 or email the reception.
