Christmas and New Year Holidays

Please note that all Library service points will be closed as follows:-
Wednesday December 24 - close at 12 noon
Thursday December 25 - closed
Friday December 26 - closed
Saturday December 27 - closed

Wednesday December 31 - close at 5.00pm
Thursday January 1 - closed
Priory Information and Resource Centre is an exception to this as it will close at 12 noon on Wednesday December 24 and reopen on Monday January 5.

Libraries in Resource Centres may also have slightly different closure periods which will be posted here as soon as they are available.

Please borrow extra books, music and films to enjoy over the festive period

 

Royston Library

Royston Library re-opened on Monday 15 September 2008 in the brand new Royston Lifelong Learning Centre located on Station Road.  As from Monday the opening hours have also been extended so that you can now visit Royston Library on any day of the week and the usual Saturday morning.  Please come along and see the range of new books and facilities on offer.

 

If you haven't visited your local library recently you may also find some changes following a programme of new building and refurbishments which included the Central Library, Penistone, Cudworth, Darfield, Grimethorpe, Darton Ward, Roundhouse and Thurnscoe.  You will also find:-

  • Thousands of new books added to stock
  • FREE Internet access at all libraries
  • Increased opening hours
  • Access to courses and ICT taster sessions
  • CDs, DVDs and Talking Books
  • Activities and storytimes for children
  • Archives, Local and Family history information and advice
  • Readers Groups and much more!

Come along and visit your FREE Public Library Service.  Anyone who lives, works or studies in Barnsley can join.  You can choose to use any of our 17 libraries or 2 Mobiles, or the Home Delivery Service for those who are housebound or have mobility difficulties.

We also offer FREE access to a range of online reference resources and a telephone reference enquiry line at the Central Library..
