The department has a collection of maps covering the area of the present Metropolitan Borough with some limited coverage of the surrounding area. These are mainly Ordnance Survey (O.S.) maps. The most notable sequences are the 1850 6 inch; County Series maps at 1: 2500 scale c. 1890, c. 1900 and c. 1930 (the c. 1890 maps are mainly in microfiche format.) and (National Grid maps at 6", 1:10,000 & 1:2,500 scale, mainly around 1960).

In addition there are copies of a number of enclosure maps and photographic reproductions of tithe maps.

Copies can be made from most of our maps either in sections of copies of whole sheets.
