On-Line Catalogue

Welcome to our Online Catalogue Link Page. This page contains several specific links to the Online Catalogue - just check them out from Quick Links. Use the 'Catalogue Search' tab and search fields to search by Author, Title, Subject, etc. This will search the catalogue but will not refer to your individual library account. This is only a very basic search facility.

Basic Search - Only one criterion is available to search with using a drop down menu

Advanced Search - facility is also available without logging into your personal account and will give you a more specific set of results.

Music and Non-Book - Multiple search facility is available

Junior Books - Multiple search facility is available

History - This will give a record of where you have searched within this particular session

If you have a library borrower barcode and a personal identification number (PIN), allocated by library staff, You can use the 'Login' button to request items on-line by clicking the 'request item' box on the item display.

You can also access your library My Account for information on items you have on loan, items you have requested, and your own individual information. If you would like to join the library, or you are a member but don't have a PIN number, please contact your local library, or e-mail library enquiries

• Overview - This displays the full list of options
• Checked Out - This displays items checked out to yourself, items that are overdue and items that have been lost.
• Renew - You can renew items you have on loan by clicking the 'renew' box against your selected item/s. Please remember to write the new date due back on the date label of the book / item/s.
• Holds - This is a record of requests you have placed and items ready for you to collect from the library
• Fine/blocks - This will display the areas which you have been blocked from i.e. DVD Loan and also will show the balance of fines you have incurred.
• Profile - You will be able to view your personal details however please note that as a matter of security the facility to amend your profile details on-line is not activated on the system, and this can only be done by library staff at your local registered library.

Please note that we make every effort to keep our catalogue accurate. However, if you're planning to travel to a library to borrow an item, we recommend that you telephone first to check that it is available.

Please note that Royston branch and the Mobile Libraries are not currently on the computerised book issue system and all items held by these libraries are displayed as 'checked in' on the catalogue.

Accessibility Standards

Please note that the present version of the software for the on-line catalogue does not conform to Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council's normal accessibility standards. The Library Service is actively working with other Barnsley Council departments to make sure that future upgrades and/or releases of the online catalogue will be working towards industry accessibility standards for web development. We apologise for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.
