A WEBSITE for young people to find out what is going on in and around Barnsley over the summer holidays has been launched this week.
By logging on to www.barnsleyparklife.com young people can see what activities are taking place in the areas they live.
The idea for the activities and website started with a project with young people at Darton High School in March called YEAH - Youth Engagement and Help.
It was made up of representatives from the area including the citizenship co-ordinator from the school, the Safer Neighbourhood Team wardens, the Area Forum Youth Worker, community police workers, a youth participation worker and young people, including the two Darton youth councillors.
The main need identified was activities throughout the summer holidays. The Parklife project and website were created to enable young people to take part in sports, arts and other activities in their local parks.
As well as a what's on guide, the website also has profiles, blogs, quizzes, top fives, games, a message board and video clips.
Youth participation worker, Phil Lane, said: "I hope that young people will use this website. We have loads of exciting and interesting activities for them to take part in, from sports to circus skills and breakdance."
