THE summer holidays just got a bit more interesting, with the introduction of Summer Smash activities for young people aged 11 to 19 years who live in Hoyland, Birdwell and Elsecar.
Street Scene - outdoor sports, graffiti art, music and barbeques - takes place between 11.30am and 4pm at Birdwell recreation ground on Saturday, July 29 and Friday August 4, The Forge, Milton Road, Hoyland, on Monday, July 31 and at Elsecar Park on Saturday, August 5.
Komplex Club is at Kirk Balk School in Hoyland on Tuesday 1, 8 and 15 and Wednesday 2, 9 and 16 August. There will be football, cricket and rounders as well as music and dance workshops. The club is open from 11am to 2pm.
For young people who want to travel a little further, there are some days out. On Thursday, August 3, there is a trip to Cap House Museum, on Thursday, August 10, the destination is Creswell Crags and on Thursday, August 17, there is a visit to Sherwood Forest. Meet at 10am at Komplex, Kirk Balk School, Hoyland.
There are also activity days at Hoyland leisure centre involving indoor and outdoor sports. These take place from Saturday, July 29 to Friday, September 1, from 9am to 4pm. Please contact the centre on 01226 774063 for booking details.
